Throwdown July 9, 2010

In addition to the digi page I completed, I also entered a traditional two page lay-out to the Throwdown.  I adopted the sketch using repeated elements and individual details.  I’m really pleased with the way it turned out.

Here’s a close up of the journaling.

I scanned the Playbill and reduced the image to fit on the page.  I wanted to keep that memory without the extra paper clutter in my scrapbook or around my house.

Going Digi June 28, 2010

Every month, our local scrapbook store has a sketch contest.  Sometimes I like to enter just to have an excuse to get some scrapbooking accomplished.  This month’s sketch is below.

This month I thought I would try something different and go digital with this layout.  I used several free elements and pulled together a nice little patriotic page.  Links to the digital elements used are provided below.

I bought an extra add-on kit to my monthly subscription to ScrapScription, called ‘A Mother Like No Other’.  I didn’t get the kit finished in time for Mother’s Day, but did enjoy putting it together so it is ready for a nice gift sometime.   While the kit is no longer for sale, you can still purchase instructions so you can get the supplies on your own and make the kit.

Once I had finished the kit, I had plenty of leftovers.  I wanted to make a card using the May Kit of the Month from Unity.  This is what I came up with.

Supplies: Paper – kraft  cardstock, Bo Bunny Back to Basics Boysenberry Dot and Jazmyne collection; Stamp –Unity May 2010 Kit of the Month; Embossing Powder – Zing! White; Other – White pen

I go to several places for inspiration.  One site I’ve been going to often for card making inspiration has been Kristina Werner’s blog.  She has regular posts of new cards in Make A Card Monday and Finally Friday segments.

Each card is photographed in awesome detail.  Along with her supply list and a brief description, she posts a step-by-step video of every card she makes.   Anytime I’m looking for a fresh idea for a card, this is the first place I come.
